Come and see the death defying feats
Of this madman up on the wire
Breathlessly as the crowd watch in awe
This was never done before
And every step takes him higher up the wire
And if they knew just what was in the mind
Of the Madman up there on the wire.
All they know, as they stare up from below
Are the death-defying feats
Of this man sixty feet above the ring seats.
And he doesn't seem to care
He could be anywhere
And all the crowd agree
He's the best they've ever seen
He looks down at the faces looking up
At the madman up there on the wire
Shuts his eyes, breathes another breath
Then he takes another step
And he falls to his death from the wire
Into space, and he crashes at the feet
Of the Ringmaster standing in the Big Top
Lifeless now, as the crowd gasp in awe
This was never seen before
They applaud but there will not be an encore
He might be anywhere
He didn't seem to care
But all the crowd agreed
He was the best they'd ever seen
